Ideas:

It isn’t the billions of ideas, that pop up in the minds of humans around the globe that make money. Very few ideas are worth the time it took for the thought. Most ideas are fleeting “sparks” that go no place and are forgotten before the next day. Of the ideas that are good, very few are followed up and ever end up as a worthwhile development in the market place. Most people are just not oriented to do anything about their ideas, while others believe it would take too much of their time and money to follow through to completion. This leaves the market place wide open for the person who learns how to “Create” Profitable Ideas!

There are three major formats you can use to create profitable idea:

  1. Find something that already exists, the presence of which has never been known before.

  2. Invent something. Most inventions are merely new arrangements of things that have already been invented.

  3. Alter or improve in any number of different ways something that already exists.

As you “Create” ideas, write them down. What you dream up can be your key to great wealth. Keep your mind “open” as you go through each day. What did you notice in the department store that would reduce costs, save money or increase sales if some simple procedure were added or something changed?

Ideas for improvements are one of the most valuable things you can contribute to society and at the same time add to your bank account. To create ideas for improvements, consider every possibility and alternative for the thing you want to improve.

Learn to create ideas by evaluating all the different aspects of the product, method or concept you are interested in. Put your imagination and subconscious to work and write down your thoughts pertaining to each of the things you expect to improve. Use the New Wealth, “Idea Format” that follows as your guide for creating Money-Making improvements. Idea Format:

List the things you want to improve:

  • Why should it be improved?

  • Who will benefit from the improvement?

  • What is wrong with it at the present time?

  • Did someone else cause a problem with it?

  • How do you propose to improve it?

  • Do you have the facilities to do the work required?

  • Do you have the know-how to do the work required to improve it?

  • Exactly what part needs to be improved?

  • Should it be smaller? Larger?

  • Should the color be different?

  • Would more activity help make it better?

  • Could it be combined with something else to make it more practical?

  • Would a different basic material work better?

  • Is it too complicated, could it be simplified?

  • Would a substitute be more meaningful?

  • Is it priced too high?

  • Would a change in personnel help the situation?

  • Can the shape be changed to advantage?

  • Can a new marketing plan make the difference?

  • Is it safe?

  • Can it be mass produced to bring the unit cost down?

  • Should the appearance be changed… streamlined?

  • Is there an adequate guarantee?

  • What can make it appeal to a bigger audience?

  • Would new packaging or trade name enhance it?

  • Can it be made heavier, lighter, higher or lower?

  • Can it be franchised?

  • Is there a good maintenance program to back it up?

  • Can financing be simplified?

  • List ways to increase production:

  • List ways to increase sales:

  • List ways to reduce costs:

  • List ways to increase efficiency:

  • List ways to improve quality and increase profits!

  • What can be done with it to satisfy more people? This New Wealth “Idea Format” will start the ideas “sparking” and as related ideas come to mind write them down in every variation you can think of. Do not judge the good or bad points of the ideas as they materialize to you, just write them down and judge them afterwards. You will stop the flow of ideas if you are critical of your thoughts before you put them on paper. When you have answered everything you can about the product or concept and know how it fits in with your plans, sit down and evaluate all the details you have written.

After you have found (created) a good idea, follow it up with questions on what should be your next move in order to do something about it, then act! Get it moving. Expose it to the world with sufficient tests to determine the value!

Come up with ideas that are still in the processing stage rather than get stuck on several vague points that may be worked out later as your subconscious goes to work. If your idea fails, so what; you are just that much closer to finalizing another one, then another… until a useful more valuable idea is born. Every manufacturing plant, retailer, attorney, accountant; every business person, large or small, cannot continue to operate in the competitive world of today without someone in the organization constantly coming up with new and better ideas!

Old ideas drop by the wayside as new ideas take their place. Old companies without new ideas fade away.

Those who learn and know how to create ideas and anticipate the changes needed, as the future evolves, have the opportunity to be a great success with big money-making potential!

Another “tool” you can use to help dream up that million idea, is to spend several minutes each evening, relaxed with your eyes closed. Pick any object that comes to mind and try to change it in your “mind’s eye”. Change it in every manner you can think of to improve it.

The following evening pick another subject or object and repeat the process. Soon you will be using 20% of your brain power instead of the 10% normally used by the average person. As your knowledge and “brain power” increase so will your bank account.

Just think what we could accomplish if we could get the other 80% of our brain power working? On second thought, let’s not try to get 100% efficiency out of your human computer . . . we would probably blow up the world for sure. Protecting Your Idea

When you have come up with a good idea, write a full description of it and make a sketch if necessary. Place the written information, the sketch and any other pertinent facts or documents in an envelope addressed to yourself. Have the post office seal the envelope with a date stamp over the flap, then send it to yourself by registered mail. Keep the envelope, unopened, in the event you need to prove ownership. Of course if your product has a properly registered trade mark, has been copyrighted, or you have a U.S. patent you are protected from infringement. A Few Idea “Sparks” !

When you come up with an idea, program or product that is so superior in style or performance that it is unbelievable you may need a notarized statement to assure your customer you are offering an honest deal.

Make a habit of examining each piece of correspondence you receive, taking care of it right at the time, do what is necessary right then. Never put it aside to be handled a second time if it all practical. This can save more time than anything else for an executive who handles a large amount of correspondence and mail. You can also save many more hours each week by doing several of the most important things that need to be done each day before you take up other, time consuming important details.

Another good way to “spark” ideas is to go through the classified and want ads in the newspaper … Also the yellow pages of your telephone directory. As you read, think of something that would be of value to the company or person, or enhance the item you are reading about.

In summary, learn to develop ideas from observing everyday things and details. Think of what could make something better. Dwell on things that have a large marketing audience, something that everyone needs and wants. Write your ideas down. Put a pencil and pad at your night stand. When you remember a good dream… don’t just lay there, by morning you will forget it… Jot it down on the pad. You will be surprised what you can dream up! Maybe the million dollar idea will magically appear on your pad tomorrow morning!

Let me give you an example of ‘imagination’ and ‘creating value from thin air’ in a product I saw advertised recently.

This product was aimed at young girls age 7-13. It consists of adding two things together:

1) Brightly colored streamers you see kids swing in the air while running on hot summer days and

2) skipping rope - another favorite hobby of young people.

This product fits on the leg of a young person. The young person hops on one leg and the action creates motion. Attached to the ring around one leg is a wheel and at the end of the wheel a brightly colored steamer that you have to skip over as it passes.

It’s the jump-rope game, but you can do it alone and, of course, it has those very nice, colorful streamers!

The product adds two things to make ONE. And it creates a new ‘value’ and is more valuable than a simple jump rope

Creating value is like this adding one thing to another to make the final product a ‘value’ that people are happy to exchange their money for.

How do people get ideas like this? Is there a ’secret’ formula for getting profitable ideas?

I can tell you that creating profitable ideas is harder than you think and harder than marketing them but, there is power in a good idea and it will motivate you to keep pushing forward to success.

You can easily (in most cases) reverse engineer a business opportunity.

Let’s take http://www.ecommercials.tv as an example.

eCommercials is selling a business opportunity that helps local businesses put their TV commercials on the clients website using a ‘playerless’ video stream.

The big advantage to using a ‘playerless’ video stream is simple: Anyone can view it. All you need is a browser. The browser will immediately play the video without plug-ins or downloading a ‘player”. For example, Macromedia’s Flash requires installing a ‘player’ on your computer before you can view content created with Flash. The video stream eCommercials is using does not require a ‘player’ to be installed on your computer- it just starts playing!

A second advantage is that the videos are highly compressed and use very small amounts of bandwidth. Third the video is extremely high quality video.

The business opportunity they were selling included a few ways you can make money.

By referring clients to eCommercials and offering a service to ‘encode’ the video and upload it to your client’s website. You get paid about $500.

If the client requires the commercial to be filmed, your commission is $1500.

And so on.

There were two things that were really interesting about this ‘opportunity’.

  1. eCommercials did not create the encoder or ‘playerless’ video technology. They are using another company’s software to create the videos.
  2. All eCommercials is doing is to package the IDEA/CONCEPT of ‘putting video commercials on websites”, selling the service and selling a ‘biz opp’.That’s really it. They are using someone else’s technology and packaging the IDEA/CONCEPT into a biz opp.How much are they selling this ‘opportunity’ for?

$15,000

What do you get for you $15,000? You get is a marketing manual, a video or two and a ’system’ for selling their services, a laptop computer with video ’samples”, a pre-done website (template) and the ‘right’ to sell the service.

Then, after you successfully sell the service, you get a ‘commission’.

You can do this yourself. Find a technology or software product whose output could be a commercially viable product that other compnaies would pay you for. Figure out how other businesses could use the ‘output’ and create a ‘business opportunity’ from it.

A simple concept but it has tremendous potential. The company who developed the ‘playerless’ video encoder is http://www.grus-india.com/ and they market the technology primarily through their ‘ClipStream trademark.

If you purchase this technology you could start the same service tommorrow, save yourself $10,000 and keep all the profits.

The next time you see a business opportunity try reverse-engineering it first to see if you can start the business on a showstring. You”ll lower your risk and increase your profits.

Many people debate the effectiveness of safelists, but I have actually gotten responses from the more popular ones.

For one thing, you’ve got to mail your email ad at a time of day when people are home and relaxing on their computers. If you send it at 3 a.m. you really can’t expect much of a response.

Here is a neat little FREE report that gives you a trick to make safelist subject lines stand out.

Right-click the link below to download this PDF.

How To Write Safelist Subject Lines

The way to be creative and different is by being ‘yourself’;really be yourself; talk like you would talk to a friend in your emails and let ‘you’ come through in everything you do.

Most people are afraid to be ‘themselves’ because they might be rejected; you have to get over that.. not everyone will like you. Not everyone will be your friend either. That’s life!

But;there will be enough people who will like you and those are the ones that will stay with you over the years and be good customers.

I get emails once in a while saying I ’suck’ or worse; but I also get emails from people who like what I say and what I teach.

Now, let me ask you: Should I be disappointed that some people don’t like me? No. That’s literally their problem, not mine.

And, should I be feeding my ego every time someone says they like what I do and congratulate me on a great newsletter or info-product or whatever - again the answer is ‘no’.

The bottom line is: You have to do what you feel is the most benefit, the most help to your customers and subscribers and listen to honest feedback, but ignore everything else.

That’s the blunt truth. You have to be strong. You can’t let a little praise go to your head and you can’t let a little blame or dislike of what you’re doing discourage you in anyway.

You have to be yourself and whenever negative or positive forces try altering your path, you must ignore them and keep building value and usefulness into everything you’re doing.

Learn how to create VALUE; I’m talking about tangible, functionable products and services that are REALLY USEFUL to your prospects and customers. You create ‘value’ by being yourself and building a little piece of ‘YOU’ into everything you do.

How to ‘create value’ is a lesson in itself ;which I’ll save for another day.

Word can be used not only to influence people but also to change their mind about something. Choose the right words, and you have the power to persuade, entice and motivate. In marketing and promotion, power words are like tools used by people in multiple professions, including politicians and people in public relations. Adding just a few power words can make a world of difference in your ads and headlines.

The words “New” or “improved” create a sense of curiosity. Potential customers get the impression that the product is different from similar products. If it is a product she has been looking for, she may want to get it before anyone else does in order to have an edge over others in the same profession or social position. Laundry products have been advertised as new and improved for many years. You don’t have to spend a lot of time making an improvement in your product. You just have to make some improvement to make it better than the competitor’s product. You’d be surprised how just one difference between your product and your competitor’s can make a customer want to buy from you.

Another common but powerful phrase is “Money back guarantee”. This phrase is used to help the customer trust you enough to buy from you. After all, what do they have to lose if they can get their money back if not satisfied. When you offer a money back guarantee, the risk falls on you instead of the customer.

Many successful ads advertise the fact that they are revealing a little known secret. People are always looking for an advantage over others. They love to know that they may be one of the few people in-the-know about a particular subject. If they think you can supply them with some juicy tidbits of information that will help them achieve success in something, you’ve sold them.

Words such as “an Insider says that” is similar to “secret”. It conveys information from an expert that is not commonly known to most people. The catch is you must pay for this insider information.

The word “Free” in the headline of the message simply does wonders for you sales, even if you’re giving something away. The key is to give some interesting useful information while including information about your paid product which will provide even more information. If the free information isn’t very good, your prospects won’t bite. Likewise, you can’t trick people into thinking they’re getting something for free when in fact they have to pay. You will infuriate prospects and lose their trust instantly. Obviously, this is the opposite of what you want to do. In email messages, the word “FREE” is spelled “FR~E” in an effort to get past the spam filters many internet service providers have in place.

“You” is a word that should be liberally sprinkled throughout your advertising. It makes the prospect feel like you are speaking to them directly. Anything you can do to make your ad personalized will help. Use this word to get your prospect to picture themselves using and benefiting from your product. The best way to do this is to pretend you are the customer and think of very specific ways in which they will benefit from the product. Be sure to answer the customer’s possible objections to buying a product, as well.

The word “limited time offer” gives your visitors a reason to buy now. After all, if they wait, the price may go up or you may stop selling the product. Recently there has been a trend of selling a limited quantity of digital products, such as 500 or 1000. It’s one thing to have a product the customer wants, but you have to take it one step further to make them want it now instead of tomorrow. Once the visitor leaves your site, they are very unlikely to return, so it’s very important make them see the urgency of the situation.

The word “Power” is a powerful word itself. People love something that gives them power in their life, whether it’s the power to save time, money or work. It’s all about making something more convenient for your visitor.

The ultimate goal of an advertiser is to understand what your target market wants and then design your ad to push the right buttons so they’ll buy what they want from you. However, listing the advantages of using a product or service isn’t enough. For example, if you were selling a computer hard drive, you don’t just want to say the hard drive holds 100 GB of data. You want to let them know it will hold 50,000 mp3 files or 10,000 videos. You’ll see lots of ads for computer equipment make the mistake of giving technical details without making appealing to non-techies. They miss out on customers who might otherwise buy their hardware simply because they can’t read between the lines of what the technical specs mean in real world benefits.

Take a look at advertisements you have written and posted and see how you can improve them by adding a few power words to them. Keep in mind that most of what you write on the web is an ad, including your home page and your website links. Using power words will keep people on your site as they click through to find out more of what you’re offering.
